Ellis Summer Athletic Camps 2026 – Skills, Fun, and Teamwork for Every Athlete

From first-time players to seasoned athletes, our 2026 summer camps give girls the opportunity to develop skills, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of the game. Led by Ellis coaches, each camp offers drills, games, and competitive play in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Mini Sticks Field Hockey (Grades 1-4)

    Dates: June 8-12, 2026
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Cost: $300
    Ages: Girls entering grade 1-4
    Coaches: Sara Stroud (Ellis Field Hockey Coach)
    Join the Ellis Mini Sticks Field Hockey camp to learn more about this exciting and unique sport.  This camp is for players of all skill levels, whether picking up a stick for the first time or if you are looking to improve your skills on the field in a fun and encouraging environment.  This is a great introduction to the sport allowing girls to explore the positions, equipment, and rules of game and ultimately build up to scrimmages. Learn through a mix of drills, games, and competitive play. Campers will need to provide their own shin guards, mouth guards, and water bottles.
  • Middle School Field Hockey (Grades 5-8)

    Dates: July 13-17, 2026
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Cost: $300
    Ages: Girl entering grade 5-8
    Coaches: Sara Stroud, Annetra Taylor, and Stever Habershaw (Ellis Field Hockey Coaches)
    This Field Hockey Camp is for players of all skill levels, whether they are still developing their talents or they're looking to improve their game in a fun and fast-paced environment. Players will work on mastering the proper fundamentals, techniques, and advancing their overall skills and knowledge of the game from the experienced coaches of the Ellis School Field Hockey team. This is a great opportunity for players to learn through a mix of drills, games, and competitive play. Campers will need to provide their own shin guards, mouth guards, and water bottles. 
  • Soccer (Grades 2-9)

    Dates: June 22-24, 2026
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. OR 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    Cost: $300 for half day camp; $415 for full day camp
    Coaches: Amanda Banachoski, Jackie Dame, and Jackie Prepelka (Ellis Varsity Soccer Coaches)
    Soccer Camp is for players of all skill levels, whether they are still learning the basics of dribbling and passing or they're looking to master their step overs and feints.  Campers will be grouped by age and skill level to achieve the most from their camp experience.  All campers will improve their game in a fun and fast-paced environment of drills, games, and competitive scrimmages. Players will work on mastering the proper fundamentals, techniques, and advancing their overall skills and knowledge of the game.

Q: What are the hours of the Athletics Camps?

    Campers will not be admitted earlier than 8:15 a.m. Parents/guardians should walk their child(ren) to the main entrance but are not allowed on campus or inside any school buildings. 

    All full-day camps end at 3:00 p.m. and all half-day camps end at 12:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. 
     
    For younger campers, extended day options are available.

Q: What medical forms are required to attend camp?

    All campers will be required to complete a Summer Camp Health Form found within each camp's online registration form. Please contact summerprograms@theellisschool.org with any questions or concerns.

    Medical forms must be completed by May 8, 2026.

Q: Where are the Athletics Camps located?

    All camp programs take place on The Ellis School's campus, located in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Directions and a campus map can be found here.

    Soccer Camp and Field Hockey camp will take place on the Ellis Athletic Field located at the back of the school. In the event of inclement weather, camp will be moved inside to Janet's and Joy's Gyms.

Q: What should my child bring to camp each day?

    • Full-day campers will need to provide their own nut-free lunch. No microwave or fridge is available, so please plan your camper’s lunch accordingly. Campers should also bring a nut-free snack for mid-morning break time.
    • All campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their first and last name. We have refill stations for water bottles!
    • Field Hockey campers should bring their own shin guards, mouth guards, and water bottles. Campers may also bring their own stick if they have one. Ellis will provide sticks for those who do not have one.
    • Soccer campers should bring their own shin guards, cleats, AND athletic shoes.

Q: Are before- and after-care available?

    Drop-off begins at 8:15 a.m. at the main entrance after the instructors arrive on campus. Campers will not be admitted earlier than 8:15 a.m. Camp programming will officially begin every day at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
     
    After-care is available for full-day campers ages 9 and under only. After-care runs daily from 3:15 to 5:45 p.m. and is operated by the Ellis Summer Programs staff. After-care includes campers from Ellis’ Athletic Camps and Coed Kids Camp programs. A small snack will be provided for after-care campers. Registration for after-care is available in the registration portal.
     
    The daily rate for after-care is $30 per day per child when you register in advance. Sign up for the whole week at a reduced price of $130 per child!

Q: How do I drop off and pick up my camper?

    • Full payment for all summer programs is due upon registration. 
    • After the first day of the camp program, no refunds will be given unless the camp is canceled by The Ellis School.
    • Cancellation requests are eligible for a refund minus 20% up until May 8, 2026. Cancellation requests made from May 9, 2026, until two weeks prior to the start of the camp session are eligible for a refund minus 50%. No refunds will be given for cancellation requests received within two weeks of the start of the camp session.
    • All summer camp offerings in 2026 are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrollment, The Ellis School will notify registered families in advance and refund the entire program fee.
