Ellis Athletics Camps provide young athletes with opportunities to develop their athletic potential through a variety of sport-specific programs.
Athletics camps are led by Ellis head coaches along with college and high school student-athletes. Campers will participate in team competitions, as well as informal play and skill-building sessions.
Dates: June 19-23, 2023 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Cost: $450 Age Group: 10–15 Gender: Girls only Lunch: Not provided. Campers should bring lunch each day.
Come out and improve your volleyball skills while boosting your love of the game! All skill levels will benefit from this program through the development of proper technique and skill execution. Training includes the advanced offensive and defensive skills of the game, creative drills, and a variety of competitive games held throughout the duration of the camp. Parents are welcome to attend on Friday afternoon for tournament-style play.
Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions.
Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers will receive a Nike Volleyball Camps t-shirt and prizes.
Volleyballs: Volleyballs are provided for instruction during camp. Campers may purchase a camp volleyball at the time of registration, which will be given out on the last day of camp. Fun tip: Have your camp friends sign your volleyball before you leave!

Soccer Camp will focus on age-appropriate skill development for soccer players. Campers will be encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace under the careful guidance of the camp staff. The counselors will work to instill confidence in the players through the latest skills training and ball control drills with an emphasis on fun and learning.
Dates: July 10-13, 2023 Schedule: Monday–Thursday*, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Cost: $225 Age Group: 10–15 Gender: Girls only Lunch: Not provided. Campers should bring a snack each day.
*Please note: Should a day of camp need to be canceled due to inclement weather, Friday, July 14 will be the make-up date.
Athletes are invited to receive top-notch field hockey training through specialized drills from Coach Alexx Miller and her dedicated staff. Field Hockey Camp is designed to improve each player's stick game through individualized training. This opportunity allows campers to take their skills to the next level with other athletes who share the same love for field hockey—and have some serious fun!

At Basketball Camp, athletes will work to improve their ability to understand the game through in-game skill development with a focus on fundamentals. Campers of all skill levels will benefit from being taught the basic techniques of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Players will also participate in game-like drills, fundamental stations, contests, and 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. Parents are welcome to attend the camp on Friday afternoon for tournament-style play.

Campers will not be admitted earlier than 8:30 a.m. Parents/guardians should walk their child(ren) to the athletic field gate but are not allowed on campus or inside any school buildings.
All full-day camps end at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Parents/guardians of younger children should come to the athletic field to pick up their child(ren).
Q: How do I register my child for Athletics Camps?
All campers will be required to complete a Summer Camp Health Form found within each camp's online registration form. Please contact johnsonk@theellisschool.org with any questions or concerns.
All camp programs take place on The Ellis School's campus, located in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Directions and a campus map can be found here.
Basketball Camp and Volleyball Camp will take place in both Janet's Gym and Joy’s Gym. Field Hockey Camp and Soccer Camp will take place on the Ellis Athletic Field located at the back of the school.
Full-day campers will need to provide their own lunch. No microwave or fridge is available, so please plan your camper’s lunch accordingly. Campers should also bring a snack for mid-morning break time.
All campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their first and last name. We have refill stations for water bottles!
For Volleyball Camp, knee pads are recommended but not required.
Field Hockey campers will need to bring a field hockey stick.
Drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. at the athletic field gate after the instructors arrive on campus. Campers will not be admitted earlier than 8:30 a.m. Camp programming will officially begin every day at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
After-care is available for full-day campers ages 9 and under only. Families can pre-register and pay for after-care during online camp registration. After-care runs daily from 3:15 to 5:45 p.m. and is operated by the Ellis Summer Programs staff. After-care includes campers from Ellis’ Soccer Camp and Coed Kids Camp programs. A small snack will be provided for after-care campers.
The daily rate for after-care is $30 per day per child when you register in advance. Sign up for the whole week at a reduced price of $130 per child during online registration.
Campers will be dropped off and picked up at the athletic field gate located at the back of the school, closest to Penn Avenue. To get to the athletic field, turn onto Bakery Square Boulevard off of Penn Avenue. You may park in the back parking lot while dropping off or picking up your camper. View campus map here.
Q: Absences or transportation changes—what do I do?
If you anticipate a late arrival to camp, require an early dismissal, or if your child will be absent for the day, please email johnsonk@theellisschool.org to notify camp staff.

Soccer Camp Refund Policy
After the first day of the camp program, no refunds will be given unless the camp is canceled due to COVID-19.
Cancellation requests are eligible for a refund minus 20% up until May 12, 2023. Cancellation requests made from May 13, 2023, until two weeks prior to the start of camp are eligible for a refund minus 50%. No refunds will be given for cancellation requests received within two weeks of the start of camp.
All Ellis camp offerings are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrollment, The Ellis School will notify registered families in advance and refund the entire program fee.
