Life at Ellis

After-school Programs

Ellis After 3:00 p.m.

Your daughter thrives on routine, while also enjoying new adventures—and we know you do, too. That’s why we make transitioning to a new school simple and straightforward.
Whether you need after-school care or your daughter is looking for opportunities to pursue her interests with friends outside of school, we’ve got you covered. At Ellis, girls in all grades—pre-kindergarten to grade 12—have amazing opportunities available to them after school ends for the day.

List of 6 items.

  • Before- and After-care

When you can’t get out of work until after 5:00 p.m. or need to make an early morning appointment, Ellis before- and after-care is there for you! Flexible hours mean you can drop your daughter off as early as 7:30 a.m. and pick her up as late as 6:00 p.m. Before-care is offered for free, and after-care offers an engaging after-school environment for Ellis students in all grades and looks different in each division. Lower and Middle School after-care is offered for a fee. Upper School students are welcome to stay on campus to meet with classmates to complete group work or to focus on projects and assignments after the school day ends. No direct supervision is provided for these older students and there is no fee.

In Lower and Middle School the program includes a healthy snack, extra time for homework completion, active free play, and hands-on art-making activities. Homework Club in the Lower School is for students in grades 2–4 and provides an opportunity for students to sign up for homework support and guidance from Ellis teachers. Homework Hub—available to Middle School students—offers a quiet, library setting to independently complete homework after school. Additional childcare is available for Lower and Middle School students on teacher professional development days and during parent-teacher conferences.
  • Enrichment Programs

From science to soccer, karate to chess, after-school enrichment programs provide opportunities to Lower and Middle School girls beyond the school day. In Lower School, girls may learn how different birds make nests according to their needs or develop the basic skills of team sports. In Middle School, girls cultivate skill and strategy in fencing or develop mindfulness and confidence in yoga. After-school enrichment programs are designed to provide students with engaging "beyond the curriculum" experiences in areas including the arts, sciences, languages, and physical activity. These activities run in six- or eight-week sessions each trimester and are offered from the time school ends until 4:45 p.m. Students are welcome to join the after-care program until 6:00 p.m. once enrichment programs have ended for the day. Specific offerings change each trimester and courses are taught by Ellis faculty and experienced local educators.
  • Music Lessons

Ellis offers students the opportunity to study with a private music instructor before or after school. By beginning or continuing to play a musical instrument, students are exposed to creative opportunities while learning commitment, self-discipline, and leadership skills. Our music instructors are passionate, patient, and adept at engaging learners in music theory and performance. Private instruction is offered in guitar, piano, strings, voice, and winds. Lessons are also available during the summer.
