Ellis Students Partner with East End Cooperative Ministries

Giving of yourself doesn’t only happen at the holidays for Ellis students. Their participation in Guild, a student-run organization that provides service-learning opportunities to individuals and larger groups, offers them a year-round outlet to become dedicated volunteers in the local and global community.
The Upper School Guild, along with Upper School History teacher Rick Malmstrom, recently partnered with the East End Cooperative Ministries (EECM) to cook and serve dinner to local men’s shelter residents. The EECM provides everything from a warm meal and a place to sleep, to educational and prevention programs for locals in need.

The goal of these hands-on learning experiences at Ellis is to foster a habit of service that grows into a lifelong commitment and involvement in one’s community. By participating in service-learning experiences, students have the opportunity to better understand themselves and the world around them.
