Ellis faculty member Dr. Susan Corbesero, who teaches history and the popular Gender & Power course at the Upper School, will serve as a panelist at the November 22, 2013 screening of the new film Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines. The screening takes place at 7:00 p.m. in Chatham University's Eddy Theater. The panel discussion follows. Both the film and the panel are free and open to the public.
The Pittsburgh screening of Wonder Women is presented by The Psychology of Gender Research Team at Chatham University, and is one of only three currently scheduled nationwide.

Also serving on the panel with Dr. Corbesero are Dr. Deanna Hamilton. an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Chatham; Dr. Britney Brinkman, Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Chatham and co-leader of the Psychology of Gender Research Team; and Allison Jedinak, a graduate researcher with Chatham University's Psychology of Gender Research Team.

According to the website for the film, Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines "traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman from the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today." Through interviews with Linda Carter, who played Wonder Woman on the popular television series, comic book artists, and feminist icons such as Gloria Steinem and Kathleen Hanna, the film explores how "popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation."
