Financial Aid

The Ellis School is committed to attracting the very best students from all economic, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Each family’s circumstance is distinctive, and the application for financial aid is a chance for you to explore how your family and Ellis may partner to support your daughter’s independent school education. The financial aid process is separate from the Ellis admission process, and applying for financial aid will not jeopardize your daughter’s opportunity for admission.
Beginning in November, parents are invited to attend financial aid workshops to learn more about the financial aid process at Ellis. Attendees will receive information about School and Student Services (SSS), the organization which will ultimately assesses a family’s ability to pay for an independent education. New applicants for financial aid are required to attend a workshop or watch a recording of the presentation online.

  • Pre-K to grade 4 families may receive aid for up to 50 percent of tuition based on financial need.
  • Middle and Upper School families may receive aid up to the full cost of tuition based on financial need.
  • In the 2016-2017 school year, Ellis provided $1.8 million in financial aid grants.
  • Currently, 37% of Ellis students receive need-based financial aid.
  • A financial aid application must be completed online and submitted with copies of your most recent IRS Form 1040 and W-2(s).
  • The School asks families to apply for aid each year and reserves the right to change a student’s financial aid grant to reflect changes in the family’s circumstances.
  • The School will consider offering financial aid to a student who did not receive financial aid previously if her family’s financial circumstances have changed substantially.
