The information below is provided to help you in your decision-making process and to provide information about options such as financial aid and payment plans. More comprehensive information about costs can be discussed during your visit. Expenses not covered by tuition include uniforms, textbooks, and other incidentals.

Payment Plans

The Ellis School is committed to partnering with families to ensure a smooth tuition payment process throughout each school year. Families may select one of three payment plan options offered by the School: the one-payment, two-payment, or ten-payment plan. Families select a payment plan for the school year when they submit their enrollment or re-enrollment contract.

  • ONE-PAYMENT PLAN

    This payment plan is comprised of one payment of the annual tuition by July 31, less a $100 credit (please see your contract for details). Non-tuition fees—class fee(s), Ellis Parent Association dues, and tuition insurance premiums—are also due by July 31. The 5 percent enrollment deposit and $100 credit are applied in July. Tuition insurance through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. is optional, though strongly recommended, for families who select this payment plan. Payment through FACTS Tuition Management Service is optional for this payment plan, and free of charge.
  • TWO-PAYMENT PLAN

    This plan is comprised of two payments dividing the annual tuition, with 60 percent due by July 31 and the balance of 40 percent due by January 1. Non-tuition fees—class fee(s), Ellis Parent Association dues, and tuition insurance fees—will be withdrawn via FACTS alongside your first tuition payment in July. The 5 percent enrollment deposit is applied to the final payment. Tuition insurance through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. is required for this payment plan. Payment through FACTS Tuition Management Service is required for this payment plan. The annual non-refundable FACTS fee for the Two-Payment Plan is $10.
  • TEN-PAYMENT PLAN

    This plan is comprised of ten payments dividing the annual tuition into installments beginning in June and ending in March. Non-tuition fees—class fee(s), Ellis Parent Association dues, and tuition insurance fees—will be withdrawn via FACTS alongside your second tuition payment in July. The 5 percent enrollment deposit is applied to the final tuition payment. Tuition insurance through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. is required for this payment plan. Payment through FACTS Tuition Management Service is required for this payment plan. The annual nonrefundable FACTS fee for the Ten-Payment Plan is $45.

  • Dining Services

    Our dining services provider, Metz Culinary, offers many healthy and delicious snack and lunch options. Families in all grades use the K-12 Payment Center, accessible via the Ellis parent portal, MyEllis, to prepay for meals.
  • Textbooks

    Upper School families are responsible for purchasing textbooks; cost varies depending on course selection. Textbooks are provided to Lower and Middle School students. A graphing calculator is required for grades 6–12; students must supply their own. Ellis offers a 1:1 device program in Middle and Upper School at no additional cost.
  • Uniforms and Merchandise

    Uniforms are required for students in kindergarten to grade 12. Purchases of uniforms or other merchandise are paid directly at the time of purchase to the vendor.

  • Class Fees

    An annual class fee of $25 is charged for each student. This fee goes to each girl’s individual class to pay for special class-specific events and activities.
  • Ellis Parent Association Dues

    Ellis collects annual dues of $100 from each family on behalf of the Ellis Parent Association, which provides services for students and teachers, including speakers, school-wide events, and gifts for faculty at holiday time and at the end of the year.
  • Tuition Management and Insurance Fees

    For those families who select a multiple payment plan for tuition, enrollment in FACTS Tuition Management service is required. The fee for the two-payment plan is $10 and the fee for the the ten-payment plan is $45. Tuition insurance through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. is required for multi-payment plans, the fee for which is 1.25% of net tuition.

  • Extracurricular Activities

    Prepayment is required for after-school programs—including After-school Adventures, After-school Workshops, the After-school Athletic Program, Ellis Music Academy, and the Extended Day Program—and pre-season sports camps. Fees may be required for participation in PAJCL, MUN, Ski Club, and some mini-courses.
  • Testing Fees

    PSATs and AP exams are billed separately. Reduced rates for AP exams are available to students who qualify.
  • Van Service

    If you reside in a school district that does not provide bus transportation for your daughter(s), the option of a van service that spans the greater Pittsburgh area is available at an additional cost. The per-student fee for the Sewickley van is $4,000 per year for round trip and $2,000 per year for one way. For Murrysville, South Hills, and Northern Communities (Pine Richland, South Butler, Southwest Butler, Quaker Valley, and Mars areas) the per-student fee is $4,400 per year for round trip and $2,200 per year for one way.
