Lower School organizes mitten, pajama drive

Ellis students in grade 3 and Pre-K are leading two special clothing drives during the month of December. Pre-Kindergarten students are teaming up with Scholastic Books for the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. Third Grade students are asking friends and family to donate warm clothing, such as gloves, hats, scarves and mittens. These items will be used to decorate the Mitten Tree in the Lower School Lobby.
The pajamas and warm outdoor clothing collected will then be donated to families in need through organizations such as the Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.

For each pair of pajamas/nightgowns Ellis donates, Scholastic will donate an age-appropriate book to accompany the pajama set. Pajamas and nightgowns may be donated in any size from newborn to adult. Starting December 1, a collection box will be available outside the Pre-Kindergarten classrooms on the first floor of the Lower School. The Mitten Tree will also be installed in the Lower School lobby on December 1. Third grade girls will decorate boxes to transport all of the warm winter clothing to an organization that will distribute it to needy families.
