Junior Basketball Player Scores 1,000 Career Points

Natalie Jasper, Class of 2021, reached a major milestone on Monday, January 20 as she scored her 1,000th career point as a member of the Ellis Varsity Basketball Team. Natalie’s 1,000th point came in the form of a free throw and was just one of 21 points she scored in the Tigers’ win over Brentwood High School. To celebrate her accomplishment, Head Varsity Basketball Coach Dan LaGamba and Athletic Director Shayla Scott shared their thoughts on Natalie as a player and student-athlete.
“I am extremely proud of Natalie for scoring 1,000 points in her career,” said Coach LaGamba. ”Not only is she one of the hardest working members on the team, but she is also our leader on and off the floor as a junior. Natalie didn't score 1,000 points by accident, she has put in countless hours practicing her craft and working on the court and the weight room to refine her game. She deserves everything that she gets because she works hard for it and I couldn't be happier for her.”

Coach Scott shared, “For any high school basketball player, topping the 1,000 point mark is an outstanding achievement. However, to witness our own Natalie Jasper develop into a wonderfully talented basketball player and an exceptionally well-rounded individual, who cares so much about being a team player, makes her accomplishment that much more impressive.”

Natalie follows in the footsteps of alumna Dayna ROUSE ’16 who was the last player to accomplish the feat.
