I am truly honored to step into the role of Interim Head of School at The Ellis School. While my role here is new, Ellis is not new to me. As the former Head of a neighboring school, I've had the privilege of knowing every Head of School at Ellis since Rebecca Upham, and my personal connection to Ellis is further enriched by my marriage to an Ellis alumna.
The significance of being the first male Head of School at Ellis is certainly not lost on me. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for entrusting me with this responsibility—one I take deeply to heart. The world needs more women in leadership, and Ellis is historically positioned to educate girls and young women at the highest level to become these leaders. I am excited to work with a dedicated team committed to elevating Ellis to new heights.
This past summer, I had the privilege of attending the International Coalition of Girls' Schools Annual Conference, conveniently held this year in Philadelphia. The gathering brought together thousands of educators and advocates of all-girls education from girls' schools worldwide. It was a vibrant exchange of ideas, focusing on the unique benefits and transformative impact of an all-girls education. The conference emphasized the importance of creating learning environments where girls can thrive without limits. It deepened my own commitment to Ellis's mission, as I learned about the latest research and shared best practices that can enhance our school's programs. The energy and optimism at the conference were palpable, reminding me of the incredible potential we have at Ellis to shape future leaders.
As I embark on this journey with Ellis, I am filled with optimism and determination to build upon the rich legacy of this wonderful historic institution. Together with our dedicated faculty, staff, and the vibrant community of alumnae, I am committed to nurturing an environment where our students can excel and develop into the leaders of tomorrow. Our shared vision for Ellis is one of continuous growth and innovation, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
I invite you to engage with us, share your insights, and be a part of the exciting emerging plans at Ellis. Your support and involvement are crucial as we strive to create transformative experiences for our students. I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the year and hearing your thoughts about how we can continue to enhance the Ellis experience.
