Grade 6 scientists visit Fern Hollow Nature Center
Grade 6 visited Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley to observe the creatures that live in the watershed (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and macroinvertebrates) and their adaptations. They visited a local pond and took a water sample, which they then viewed under microscopes to see the two types of plankton. The last stop on the trip was a visit to a stream, where they sampled and identified the organisms living there.
Based on their observations the students found the stream to be healthy.
