The Ellis School's excellence in visual arts was demonstrated once again this year when 53 Ellis students in grades 7-12 were awarded Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable mentions at the regional Scholastic Art & Writing awards, a program of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Inclusion in this juried show is a significant honor and a testament to the quality of the Ellis visual arts program and the creativity of our students. Their art works will be on display at Pittsburgh Art Regional exhibition February 7 to 22, 2015 at LaRoche College.
The ceremony honoring these Ellis artists and others from the region will take place at the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center on the LaRoche campus February 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm. All participants and their families are encouraged to attend.
More than 2,000 works of art were submitted to the Pittsburgh Regional Scholastic Art Awards for consideration. Of these, 924 pieces won Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention awards and will be on display. The Ellis School won an incredible 70 awards: 15 Gold Keys, 26 Silver Keys, and 29 Honorable Mentions.
