Ellis students hear Justice Sonia Sotomayor in Pittsburgh
Ellis 7th and 12th grade history students had the experience of a lifetime when they attended a February 4 talk by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Justice Sotomayor is the court's third female justice and its first Hispanic justice. She discussed her best-selling memoir My Beloved World with University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Mark Nordenberg.
This special Pittsburgh Arts and Lectures event continues School's tradition of sending students to hear extraordinary authors and leaders.
My Beloved World covers the seminal events in Sotomayor's life that have led her to the nation’s highest court. The memoir has been widely praised by reviewers for its candor and intimacy. The program included questions from the audience, both submitted in advance and taken live, moderated by Chancellor Nordenberg.
