Ellis had an incredible showing in the regional Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. A total of 2,000 works were submitted by students from across the region in grades 7 to 12. Of the 952 works accepted, 100 were by Ellis students.
Scholastic offers Silver and Gold Key Awards, as well as an American Visions Award to the best work in any single category or age group. Of the 524 Honorable Mentions, 41 went to Ellis students. Of the 376 Silver Keys, 37 were awarded to Ellis students. Of the 242 Gold Keys, 22 went to Ellis students. And, an Ellis student received one of only five American Visions Nominations.
The fact that a school as small as ours won so many awards speaks to the excellence of our fine arts and writing programs.
These regional winners will be honored at a Sunday, February 24 ceremony and exhibition at LaRoche College, and will be considered next for national honors:
