After nearly five months of hard work on five different competition components, the Ellis Future City team earned a 4th place finish out of 24 teams at the 14th Annual Pittsburgh Regional Future City Competition on January 19.
In addition, the team earned three of 25 special awards:
Most Effective Fire Protection Delivery
Best Indoor Environment
Most Effective Moveable Part.
The Ellis team was also recognized for five years of participation in the Future City Competition, finishing in the top five every year.
Team members are 8th graders Anna Elaine Rosengart, Courtney Baldwin, Meredith Scherer (presenter), Jordyn Tomlin, and Quinn Wilojanapa; and 7th graders Charlotte Everett (presenter), Corinne Hartman (presenter), Natasha Kossovsky, Emma Bisello, and Tara Fedder. During the 9-hour day the team was supported by teachers, family, friends, other Ellis students and their families, and five former Future City team members who came to cheer them on.
