The University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics has published two essays by Ellis students Erin West '13 and Tova Perlman '13 in its quarterly journal. The essays, which begin on page 12, discuss Elsie Hillman as a model for future leaders and are prefaced by this introduction:
Early in 2012, a group of nine young women from The Ellis School, the independent school that Elsie Hillman attended as a girl, participated in a project featuring the case study Never a Spectator: The Political Life of Elsie Hillman. They received advance copies of the case study, as well as a study guide, and under the guidance of Randie Benedict, head of school; Norma Greco, academic dean; and Richard Malmstrom, Upper School history teacher, the students read and analyzed the case study, produced two questions for the panel discussion that took place at the May 17 event, and wrote essays that reflected on the lessons that could be learned from the case study and applied to their lives as future leaders. The following two essays have been selected for reproduction in this Report. Please read Erin's and Tova's essays here: http://www.iop.pitt.edu/documents/report/Report%2050%20Winter%202012.pdf
