Ellis Alumna Named Presidential Research Scholar

Leila Reines ‘16, who will attend Cornell University in the fall, has been selected a Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholar. Reines was one of just 200 incoming students at Cornell University selected for this honor due to her academic excellence and devotion to research.
Presidential Research Scholars collaborate with faculty mentors in designing and carrying out an individualized program of research. Reines will have the opportunity to participate in a world-class research community and to receive funding for research in her area of interest throughout her undergraduate career.

This summer, Leila will attend the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute Academy where she will work with her mentor, Dr. Justin Weinbaum, in the Biomedical Engineering Lab. At Cornell Leila will major in Biological Sciences on a Pre-Veterinary Medicine track.
