Dr. Linda Sax to discuss girls' school advantage

On Monday, October 6, 2014, UCLA professor Dr. Linda Sax will describe research findings that show that single-gender education provides statistically significant benefits to girls. This free talk takes place at Ellis and is open to the public. Dr. Sax will discuss the findings of her studies, which show that girls’ school students have increased math confidence, greater focus on academics, increased interest in collaboration, greater political engagement, more interaction with teachers, greater self-confidence, and higher SAT scores.
The most significant gains are in STEM subject areas. Dr. Sax will also suggest ways parents and teachers can work together to prepare girls for success in and beyond college. You may read more about her research here:

Dr. Sax’s presentation takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. and is preceded by a reception for parents and the public (adults only) from 6 to 7 p.m. in Alumnae Hall.
