New Appointments to the Board of Trustees

The Ellis School is pleased to announce the appointment of five new trustees to the Board. Effective July 2018, these new appointments will work with Mike Haggerty, Chair of the Board, to guide The Ellis School’s strategic vision for the future.
Robert S. Jamison
Robert S. Jamison is a financial advisor in the Wealth Management Division of Merrill Lynch Bank of America. In his role, Mr. Jamison assists businesses, entrepreneurs, and families with a wide range of investment solutions. Mr. Jamison began his career in the financial services industry in New York City. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh and returned to work for his family's 193 year old, 7th generation business, Marshall Elevator Company, in 2003. After the sale of Marshall, Mr. Jamison began consulting with various small businesses including his wife's high end luxury footwear brand, EMY MACK. He received his B.A. from the University of Vermont, is a University of Pittsburgh EFC Fellow, and an Avon Old Farms School alumni.

Marni Pastor
Marni Pastor is a leader in the Healthcare Analytics & Delivery group of McKinsey & Company, a global consultancy firm. In her role, Ms. Pastor uses big data and advanced analytics to make a difference for healthcare clients. She is a part of McKinsey's New Ventures group and the Healthcare Systems & Services Practice. She also has experience in strategic planning, performance management, human capital development, department start-ups and turnarounds in the private, public, and social sector. Ms. Pastor is a graduate of Northwestern University and received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She has a special interest in K-12 education and previously worked as an administrator with the Pittsburgh Public Schools.

Tomar PIERSON-BROWN ’97
Tomar Pierson-Brown is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of the School’s Health Law Clinic. At the Health Law Clinic, Ms. Pierson-Brown supervises certified legal interns handling case matters stemming from the social determinants of health impacting Children’s low-income patient families. She also teaches an inter-professional seminar, in which nursing and law students have the opportunity to engage in collaborative problem-solving on matters of public health policy. Prior to her return to Pittsburgh, Ms. Pierson-Brown was a clinical instructor at UDC David A. Clarke School of Law and an attorney with the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Denison University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Stephen J. Tonsor, Ph.D.
Stephen J. Tonsor, Ph.D. is the Director of Science and Research at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Before joining the museum in 2015, Dr. Tonsor applied quantitative evolutionary genetics and study of form and function in both the laboratory and the field to understand how organisms adapt to changing climates. More recently he turned his attention to research at a meta-level: understanding the integration knowledge through across scientific disciplines, the arts, and humanities, toward a synthesis that considers the meaning of human existence. He received his Ph.D., in Biology from University of Chicago.

Dr. Jenny Y. Yu, M.D.
Dr. Jenny Y. Yu, M.D. is the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Ophthalmology, UPMC Eye Center. Dr. Yu also serves on the Orbital, Oculoplastic, and Aesthetic Surgery Service, is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh, and serves as the team Ophthalmologist for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dr. Yu received her B.S. with distinction with honors in biochemistry from The Ohio State University and later earned her M.D. at Ohio State’s College of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Yu completed her residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
