A Warm and Welcoming First Year at Ellis

It’s hard for me to believe that the school year is drawing to a close already. It feels like only yesterday I was meeting many of you and your daughters as we started the school year together. I am deeply grateful for the many ways in which you have helped me feel so quickly at home at Ellis, and the warmth with which you have welcomed me, and I couldn’t be more excited about our future here together.
The past few weeks have brought a whirlwind of emotional and exuberant celebrations, ranging from final concerts and games and project presentations, to closing exercises in each division, to our glorious commencement ceremony held last night. We are all so proud of the amazing members of the Class of 2018, and send them off to their next adventures with rich memories of their time here and great confidence that they are ready to take on the world!

As we say goodbye to our seniors, we are also saying farewell to a number of faculty and staff members who have given so much to Ellis. We are celebrating these individuals at our final faculty/staff meeting and luncheon today, and wish them all the best in their next endeavors:

Adam Bisno, Upper School History
Susan Freudenberg, Interim Lower School Division Head
Margaret George, Marketing and Communications
Kim Hardin, Performing Arts
Alyssa Kinney, Enrollment Management
Bonnie McConnell, Athletics and Physical Education
Josh Smith, Upper School English

For those of you who are returning families, we will be in touch over the summer with everything you need to know to be ready to start the new school year. One exciting focus of our work for 2018–2019 will be a strategic planning effort being launched this summer by our Board of Trustees. Your parental input from the community meetings and quick survey last fall, as well as the recent, more comprehensive survey will provide crucial input into this work. I look forward to sharing more information with you in the fall as this process unfolds.

For now, I hope you and your families have a safe and joyful summer.
