Ellis Swimmer Advances to States

Bryn Luedde, Class of 2019, will advance to the PIAA State Tournament after placing fourth overall in the 50 Freestyle at the WPIAL Championships on March 1. As the eleventh seed, Bryn clocked a personal best time of 24.93 seconds and soared past expectations to finish first in her heat. She will represent Ellis and swim the 50 Freestyle at the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships from March 14–17, 2018 at Bucknell University.
Bryn also competed in the 100 Freestyle and earned a personal best time of 54.87 to finish seventh overall. Violet Shattuck, Class of 2018, also earned two personal best times at the WPIAL tournament, clocking in at 1:04.66 for the 100 Backstroke and 1:03.68 for the 100 Butterfly. Overall, Ellis scored 27 total points at the Section AA championships and placed 19th out of 33 teams.

“Bryn's been working on several key parts of her event and that hard work propelled her to a great fourth place finish at WPIALs," said Head Coach Ed Chow. “We're further refining those points to use again at States where it's a wide-open field. Bryn’s leadership is setting the bar high for future seasons, and setting the standard for our varsity team moving forward.”

Best of luck to Bryn at the state tournament and congratulations to the entire varsity team on a fantastic season.
