New Appointments to the Board of Trustees

The Ellis School is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has named Michael Haggerty as Chair of the Board, and Colleen DAILY Simonds ’95 as Vice Chair of the Board. The board has also appointed two new trustees: Shanan GUINN ’93 and Kimberly G. Roberts. Effective July 2017, these new appointments will guide The Ellis School into its second century of preparing, empowering, and inspiring girls through an excellent education in an all-girls environment.
Michael Haggerty
Michael Haggerty is a Managing Director at The Hillman Company, a private investment company headquartered in Pittsburgh. Michael joined The Hillman Company in 1996 and is a member of the investment team that manages a diverse portfolio of alternative asset strategies including private equity, venture capital, real assets, and hedge funds. He received a B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and an M.B.A. from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.

Colleen DAILY Simonds ’95
Colleen DAILY Simonds ’95 led a career in the fashion industry that grew quickly from 1999 to 2010, when she left full-time work to pursue graduate studies. Her management work culminated in her role as divisional merchandise manager for J. Crew, a job which meshed her creative and mathematical skills. An engaged and dedicated alumna volunteer since 2009, Colleen recently relocated to Pittsburgh from New York City with her husband Henry and sons, John and George. She is the 1995 recipient of Ellis’ prestigious Oliver Cup, and received a B.A. in French and a B.S. in Economics from Duke University.

Shanan GUINN ’93
Shanan GUINN ’93 is Head of Strategy & Planning for BP America’s Communications & External Affairs team. In this role, she leads a team providing issue and policy campaign support for all parts of the organization—Communications, Regulatory Affairs, External Affairs and Government Affairs—to ensure all activities are managed in a holistic approach using all tools of advocacy. Shanan came to BP from the Department of Defense (DoD), where she was the Director of Travel Operations for the Secretary of Defense. In 2016, she was selected for the second cohort of Presidential Leadership Scholars—a unique leadership program run by the Presidential Centers of Lyndon B. Johnson, George H.W. Bush, William J. Clinton, and George W. Bush. Shanan is a graduate of George Washington University and received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the board of Atlas Corps, an organization that develops leaders and promotes innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled social change professionals.

Kimberly G. Roberts
Kimberly G. Roberts is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for TeleTracking Technologies, Inc., a Pittsburgh based healthcare technology company that provides software and services to improve a patient’s care delivery from admission through his/her discharge. She joined TeleTracking in 1998, and since that time has been the chief legal officer responsible for aligning legal compliance with business operations. Previously, Kimberly was an attorney with the Pittsburgh based law firm of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. for five years. Kimberly graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received her Juris Doctorate degree from Duquesne University. She is active in church related groups and youth oriented athletic programs, and resides in Sewickley with her husband, Stanley Ference. Kimberly has three children including a daughter, Katharine, a rising junior at Ellis.
