Ellis Crew Athletes Qualify for National Championship
Congratulations to Abby Hong, Class of 2019, and Audrey Lyda, Class of 2021, for qualifying for the 2017 USRowing Youth National Championship! This past weekend, Abby and Audrey traveled to East Fork State Park in Ohio to compete in the double 2000m race on Harsha Lake. Their finish in finals earned them a spot to compete at the national competition in Sarasota, Florida June 9-10.
During qualifying races at Harsha Lake, Abby and Audrey competed in the 2000m double in two heats against 14 total boats. Advancing through the first round, the girls moved onto finals and finished in second place overall with a time of 8:13.3.
Being two of the youngest and smallest athletes to compete at regionals, the opportunity to row at the National Championship is a huge accomplishment for Abby and Audrey. Congratulations and best of luck in Sarasota!
