Inspiring Early Decisions
The Ellis School Class of 2017 set an inspirational tone for spring after they rocketed into their college application season this winter; in our class of 30 soon-to-be graduates, well over two-thirds have made at least one Early Decision or Early Action application.
While the majority of early applications were to non-binding, Early Action institutions, a small number of students found an excellent opportunity to both begin (and end) their admission season by finding a complementary, binding Early Decision institution. As college admission trends continue to veer towards ever more selective heights, the strategic decisions by our Office of College Counseling and senior class to maximize the early application rounds indicates a clear and compelling advantage for our Ellis graduates. At the time of this writing, over 75% of our early applicants have been admitted to at least one of their early application institutions.
Students and their families took into very close consideration the benefits of early application rounds both in terms of early notification of admission decisions and the opportunity to maximize their positive outcomes. By choosing to apply under these early rounds, the Class of 2017 demonstrated their extraordinary confidence in not only their qualifications but also their deep understanding of the "inner workings" of college admission procedures. Applying to over 40 different institutions, our senior students were encouraged to follow their own path and maximize both fit and attainment in terms of their applications.
Capitalizing on our early successes, the Office of College Counseling looks forward to even more positive returns as we cast a long glance towards March and the release of Regular Decision admission results. The impact of an Ellis education persists far beyond graduation and we are excited for our Seniors as they make bold decisions about their future, blaze new trails, and grow into inspiring young women. We join with the entire Ellis School community to congratulate our early admission result recipients and are excited for even more good news to come!
