Three new Trustees join the Board of The Ellis School

The Ellis School is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees: Elisa Lenore Lucke, Jill J. Swensen, and janera solomon.  Effective July 2016, these new appointees joined the Board of Trustees in guiding The Ellis School in its mission of preparing, empowering, and inspiring girls through an excellent education in an all-girls environment.
Elisa Lenore Lucke
Elisa Lenore Lucke is currently the Director of Operations at the Squirrel Hill Health Center, part of a growing network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). FQHCs provide comprehensive services on a sliding scale to underserved populations. Elisa moved to Pittsburgh in 2014, after serving as a key contributor at strategy, management, and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C.  At Booz Allen, Elisa developed performance optimization recommendations for both federal agencies and commercial healthcare providers as part of the healthcare domain team. While in this role she also earned her master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management’s Executive MBA program. Her Bachelor of Science is from Bucknell University, where she majored in Cell Biology & Biochemistry. Elisa grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Hathaway Brown, a college preparatory school for girls.

Jill J. Swensen
A Principal and LEED Accredited Architect at Stantec, Jill J. Swensen is a leader in their science & technology division. Jill has designed millions of square feet of teaching and research facilities for premier higher educational institutions throughout her 20-year career. Jill is a regular national presenter at Tradeline on Science & Engineering facilities and was a keynote speaker at the 2015 R&D Magazine Lab of the Year conference. She earned a Masters of Architecture from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts from The Pennsylvania State University. Jill is also a LEED Accredited Professional, and a U.S. Green Building Council member, and NCARB certified.

janera solomon
janera solomon is the Executive Director of Kelly Strayhorn Theater, a historic live arts venue which presents progressive, evocative new works in dance, music, film, education, and cultural programming. Recognized for her transformative leadership and contributions to the revitalization of East Liberty, janera managed the merger of Kelly Strayhorn Theater and Dance Alloy in 2011, while creating a series of diverse programs designed to inspire and engage a wide range of audiences. An experienced curator, janera worked with the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and developed the First Voice International Black Performing Arts Festival produced by the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in 2007. She has worked on a range of cultural projects including content development and programming for Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, project management for the August Wilson Center, branding at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and program planning for the National Museum for African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. janera was recently featured in Pittsburgh Magazine’s Most Powerful People in Pittsburgh.
