Good news for 2015-2016

Today, we are completing our fourth week of the 2015-16 school year.  How quickly the time passes! Our students and teachers are settling into the rhythm of their school days, and they are clearly finding joy in learning as evidenced by the sights and sounds on our campus. We had strong attendance at our Lower School and Middle/Upper School Curriculum Nights.  We enjoy sharing with you what our girls experience on a daily basis as Ellis students, and we are grateful to you for entrusting us with preparing, empowering, and inspiring our students to be successful and life-long learners.
Some important good news:
  • We opened the school year with 394 students and with a waitlist for pre-K!

  • With a student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1, Ellis girls across all divisions benefit from individual attention and an intimate learning environment.

  • We are counting down to our Ellis Centennial in 2016!  The banners are up – on the Upper School facade, on the gym wall facing Penn Avenue, and in the parking lot.  There is more Centennial news and displays to come. Stay tuned!

  • Ellis has a balanced budget of $9 million, and our endowment of $27 million is the best school-per student endowment in the Pittsburgh area.

  • Our Ellis Gallery has had a facelift – thanks to the financial support and creative design work of trustees/alumnae Margot Pyle ‘52 and Colleen Daily Simonds ‘95.

  • The Middle School window renovations began this summer in the science labs and are continuing in phases in the Middle School classrooms.  What a difference they make!
The days are showing signs of cooler air and autumn colors just beginning to emerge.  I look forward to sharing a wonderful fall season with our Ellis Community!

Best wishes,
Robin
