Tim Howard named Director of Technology Integration

Timothy D. Howard has joined The Ellis School as Director of Technology Integration. An advocate and a problem-solver, Mr. Howard is excited to foster the use of emerging technologies in classrooms and will teach computer science and robotics in all three divisions. He will serve on a team of faculty and administrators who are continuing the exciting work of The Ellis School’s Learning Innovation Institute.
In his personal statement, Tim wrote passionately about the power of technology to engage students and teachers by enabling them to personalize learning and become creators of their own content. “I teach students and faculty how to apply emerging digital and online tools that challenge them and push boundaries in their classrooms. My underlying goal is to create engaging environments that encourage collaboration and creativity,” he stated.

Mr. Howard comes to Ellis with extensive experience integrating technology into private school curricula. He served for four years as a Technology Education Coordinator and Teacher at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Lower School in Alexandria, Virginia. He worked with faculty to create lessons that incorporated project-based learning and technology in service of critical thinking. He also led professional development workshops for teachers and served on the team that created the school’s STEAM curricula focused on blended learning and design thinking for students Pre-K to grade 12. Prior to St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes, Mr. Howard was Library Media & Technology Teacher at University Liggett Middle School in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. There he developed the library media center and extensive technology education curricula.

He holds a BS in Business Administration in Management Information Systems from Robert Morris University, and a Master of Library and Information Science with School Library Certification from University of Pittsburgh.
