Here ye, Here ye! Proclamation for Robin Newham

Imagine Mrs. Newham’s surprise when she received a proclamation from Allegheny County Council congratulating her on appointment as Head of The Ellis School. Below is the text of the proclamation. Three cheers for Mrs. Newham!
Allegheny County Council Proclamation

WHEREAS, in December 2013, Mrs. Robin O. Newham, was formally installed as the Head of The Ellis School, an all-girls school, serving Pre-K-12, located in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Newham joined the faculty of The Ellis School in 1981 and taught studio arts and art history unil 1998. During that time she initiated the school’s Advance Placement (AP) Studio Art program, which remains one of the true hallmarks of excellence at Ellis; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Newham also served as a Grade 9 Dean in 1997-1998, and was named Director of the Upper School in the 1998-1999 school year. As Upper School Director, she oversaw the education of every girl in the division and was responsible for leadership and management of faculty and students in grades 9 to 12; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Newham also played an integral advisory role in the design of the Hillman Upper School Building, which was dedicated in September 2000; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Newham served as Interim Head of School from September to December 2013;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Mrs. Robin O. Newham upon her appointment as Head of School, and we are grateful that under her leadership, The Ellis School is poised to continue along its trajectory of innovation and growth.
