Middle School Violinist Performs in PMEA Junior High Orchestra Festival

Bailey Nolan, Class of 2026, was selected to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Junior High Orchestra. She represented The Ellis School at the District 1 Junior High Orchestra Festival held on February 18 and 19 at North Hills Middle School.
Bailey, a violinist, performed six musical selections alongside students from schools in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

"I’ve seen Bailey demonstrate a passion for music ever since I met her,” says Strings Teacher Simon Cummings. “She responds well to challenges on the violin and is always eager to learn something new and exciting. Bailey has the drive and potential to achieve anything, and I couldn't be prouder of how much she has accomplished.”

At Ellis, Bailey has performed with the Middle School Junior and Senior String Ensembles, as well as Ellis Chamber Strings.

“I think that between performing with the Senior String Ensemble every other day and the slightly harder music in Chamber Strings (and a little practice with rhythms outside of class), I felt very prepared for this experience,” shares Bailey. “PMEA District Orchestra was a very rewarding (and fun!) experience, and I fully recommend it to anyone who loves music. I hope that anyone who participates in it will love it as much as I did!”
