Ellis students have been participating in the Scholastic Art Awards for over 40 years, with Visual Arts faculty encouraging students in grades 7–12 to submit their work annually. The nation’s longest-running and most prestigious arts and writing program, the Scholastic Art Awards provide students with a unique opportunity to showcase their art on a larger scale. 

“Any time our students have the chance to exhibit their artwork, it sheds a new light and perspective on what they have created,” says Linda Tonetti Dugan, Visual Arts Department Chair. “I often say to my students something one of my own teachers once said to me: ‘The work isn't finished until the world sees it’— and it's true! The work takes on a new life, or an autonomy, when it’s on display in a way that it can't sitting in a studio.”

The exhibition will be held on Saturday, March 19 at Seneca Valley Senior High School from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students will be honored during the award ceremony beginning at 11:30 a.m.
