P.E. Teacher to Be Inducted into WPIAL Hall of Fame

Middle School Physical Education Teacher Brianne Kelly has been selected for induction into the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Hall of Fame. Ms. Kelly, who also serves as a coach for Ellis’ Middle School soccer and lacrosse teams, is one of 16 inductees in the WPIAL Hall of Fame Class of 2022, the 15th class in the Hall of Fame’s history.
Ms. Kelly’s induction recognizes her stellar basketball career as a student at Oakland Catholic High School, during which she helped lead her team to two WPIAL championships in 2002 and 2005 and two PIAA titles in 2003 and 2005. Ms. Kelly received various local and national athletic accolades, including being named to the Associated Press All-State First Team, and she went on to become a four-year letter winner and three-time All-Big Ten selection at Penn State University. She continued her basketball career overseas, where she played professionally after college.

Organized as a means of recognizing, preserving, and promoting the heritage of interscholastic athletics in Western Pennsylvania, the WPIAL Hall of Fame aims to honor the contributions and accomplishments of those selected as models for future generations. The official WPIAL Hall of Fame induction banquet for Ms. Kelly’s class of inductees will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Greentree.

"It is truly an honor to be inducted into the WPIAL Hall of Fame,” shares Ms. Kelly. “To have my name etched in history with such prestigious athletes is an honor I will forever be proud of and grateful for.”
