Alumna Inducted Into PA Track and Field Hall of Fame

Ellis alumna Heather HANCHAK Moss '97 has been elected to the Pennsylvania High School Track and Field Hall of Fame. An outstanding sprinter at Ellis, Heather’s athletic accomplishments include:
  • Pennsylvania Indoor State Champion in the 200m (1995)
  • 200m Silver medalist at the National Scholastic Indoor Invitational (1995)
  • Indoor state champion in the 400m (1995)
  • 400m Gold medalist at the National Scholastic Indoor Invitational (1996)
  • Pennsylvania Indoor Record in the 300m (1996)
  • First place at the Golden West Invitational in the 400m (1996)
  • Track & Field News 5th team All-American in the 400m (1995, 1996)
“My time at Ellis provided a unique platform for me to excel both academically and athletically. Throughout my high school career, everyone at Ellis supported me and encouraged me to pursue my passion and athletic dreams,” shared Heather. “My unique athletic experience at Ellis shaped my outlook on how I approach and handle new and challenging life events. I am so appreciative and grateful for all the support and opportunities Ellis provided me.”
 
Following her graduation from Ellis, Heather received an athletic scholarship from Texas Christian University to run track and field. 
 
Established in 1995, the Hall of Fame honors elite track and field athletes in Pennsylvania history. Each year, six to twelve athletes, one coach, one contributor, and one distinguished alumnus are inducted. Heather will formally be inducted on Saturday, May 29, 2021, during the PIAA Track & Field Championship Meet at Shippensburg University.
