Student-Athletes Earn WPIAL Soccer Honors

Three Ellis soccer players earned postseason honors in recognition of their excellence on the field this season. Seniors Alexis Crichlow, Miranda Lightner, and Dalia Milch were awarded spots on the 2020 WPIAL All-Section team in honor of their hard work, leadership, and athleticism. In celebration of these accolades, Head Varsity Soccer Coach Tim Howard shared his perspective on this year’s All-Section athletes.
Alexis Crichlow, Class of 2021
Alexis has been a focal part of our defense for several seasons, but in her senior year, she was a force to be reckoned with as she anchored our defensive unit. Her fearless and disciplined style of play seemed to dare her competition to challenge her for any ball or battle in her way. Alexis kept us alive in many games as she shut down our opponent’s top forwards and strategically worked the ball upfield to an open teammate. We did not face a tougher and more complete defender in any game we played this season.

Miranda Lightner, Class of 2021
Miranda has been the centerpiece of our team since her freshman year. As a senior captain and the leader of our team, she embodied the spirit of competition. Miranda’s passion for soccer was palpable as she tirelessly outwitted and frustrated opponents. This season, she led the team in goals and assists, as well as motivational speeches, and rightfully earned the Most Valuable Player award. The college program that lands Miranda will be lucky to welcome her strength of play and character. I wish her all the success as she continues to compete and develop at the next level.

Dalia Milch, Class of 2021
Dalia has graced the Ellis soccer program from the first time she set foot on the field. She’s been a strong leader since her freshman season by earning the respect of her teammates with her persistent drive to compete and her affable presence. As a senior captain, Dalia truly personifies positive sportsmanship both on and off the field. She always played a central role in our attacking or defending game plan. Dalia’s flexibility and readiness to play any position where she was needed solidified her as an asset to our program.
