New to Reunion 2020: Ellis Impact Day

The Alumnae Engagement Office is excited to introduce a new addition to Reunion this year: Ellis Impact Day. Ellis alumnae make a positive impact on their communities everyday and Ellis Impact Day is a way to encourage service, highlight your important contributions, and share your work with the wider Ellis community. On Saturday, October 10, we are encouraging Ellis alumnae and their families to donate their time, passion, skills, and resources to the communities and organizations they are a part of in order to make a difference together. This can be done by engaging in various charitable efforts either in person, virtually, or from the comfort of your own home.

How does it work?

On Saturday, October 10, Ellis is encouraging our graduates to give back. Due to the pandemic, we won’t be able to work together on one service project so we hope you’ll find something you are able to do in your own community. We want to make sure everyone stays safe so please make sure you are following the guidelines of your area when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions. We encourage everyone to wear a mask and maintain the proper social distancing if you’re doing an activity outside of your home.

Ideas for How You Can Make an Impact:
  • Volunteering at a food bank
  • Donating blood
  • Donating belongings you no longer need to a shelter
  • Participating in a trash cleanup
  • Signing petitions for social change
  • Contacting local representatives
  • Registering people to vote
  • Donating to local organizations
  • Dedicating your time to a local non-profit
  • Going green! Switch out your plastic or single use products for sustainable ones
  • Planting trees
  • Writing letters to incarcerated people or those in nursing homes

On Ellis Impact Day, we want to see how you are making a difference. Take a photo of you and the activity you’ve chosen to do and share it with us on social media using the hashtag #EllisImpactDay and by tagging us. If you have a private social media account, please direct message us your photos instead. We’re also encouraging everyone to wear their Ellis gear or green and white. If you don’t have any, don’t worry! Everyone who registers through the Reunion page will receive a bandana as a thank you for participating in Ellis Impact Day. Be sure to email alumnae@theellisschool.org after registering to confirm your mailing address to ensure you receive your bandana and other fun Ellis swag.

For any questions, please contact Abby Thornton, Alumnae Engagement Officer.
