Ellis Student Named WPIAL 2A Basketball Player of the Year

Natalie Jasper, Class of 2021, has earned postseason honors and accolades in recognition of her excellence and athleticism on the basketball court this year. Natalie has been named the WPIAL 2A Girls Basketball Player of the Year and has also earned spots on the All-State Team and the WPIAL All-Section Team. In celebration of these recognitions, Head Varsity Basketball Coach Dan LaGamba shared his perspective on Natalie’s leadership, sportsmanship, and skill.
“I am extremely proud of Natalie for being named the WPIAL Class 2A Player of the Year as well as being named to the All-Section team,” said Coach LaGamba. “I believe these accomplishments not only speak volumes to her ability on the basketball court, but it says a lot about her character and the type of person that she is off the floor as well. She has earned the respect of the other coaching staffs to be voted one of the best players in our section, and has also earned the respect of the journalists that cover the WPIAL as they are the ones who vote on the player of year. Natalie puts in countless hours practicing and working on the court to refine her game. She deserves everything that she gets because she works hard for it and I could not be more proud of her.”

A team captain, Natalie led the Tigers to their furthest WPIAL playoff run in school history and to the semi-finals of the PIAA state tournament. She also reached a major milestone this season and scored her 1,000th career point as a member of the Ellis Varsity Basketball Team.
