New Appointments to the Board of Trustees
The Ellis School is pleased to announce the appointment of seven new trustees to the Board. Effective July 2019, these new appointments will work with Board Chair, Mike Haggerty, to guide The Ellis School’s strategic vision for the future.
Lesley Carlin
Lesley Carlin is the Executive Director of the McElhattan Foundation, a grantmaking foundation based in Pittsburgh. Prior to her current role, Lesley was the Vice President of Content at TripAdvisor and a content-strategy and marketing consultant for clients ranging from small startups to an international digital media group. For several years, she wrote a syndicated column for Scripps-Howard newspapers, and she has also co-authored two books. Lesley has an A.B. in English Literature and Creative Writing from Princeton University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, where she held a Javits Fellowship. She is a proud alumna of the all-girls MacDuffie School in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Patrick Koeppl, Ph.D.
Patrick Koeppl is a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting. As a Director in Deloitte’s Federal Health Practices, Patrick oversees all formative, process, impact, and outcome research for Deloitte's government, nonprofit, and private-sector clients. He specializes in the use of social science and behavioral research strategies to inform and motivate human behavior for improvements in public health. He holds a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in applied cultural anthropology from Northern Arizona University, and a Ph.D. in behavioral and community health from the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health.

Dora PLUMMER Magovern ’01
Dora PLUMMER Magovern ’01 is a Clinical Social Worker at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dora has worked in a variety of capacities within the social work and public health fields, including child abuse research, direct practice, and community organizing. She cares deeply about trauma and abuse and incorporates animal therapy in her practice. Dora has a B.A. in anthropology from Bates College, an M.P.H. in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, and an M.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.

Melonie Nance, M.D.
Dr. Melonie Nance is an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) otolaryngologist affiliated with multiple UPMC hospitals in the Pittsburgh area. Melonie serves as the section chief of Otolaryngology at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and specializes in cancer surgery of the head and neck. She received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and also serves on the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater’s Board of Trustees.

Elizabeth Riordan
Elizabeth Riordan is the Senior Director, Strategic Business Development at UPMC and has over 20 years of strategy experience in consulting and the healthcare industry. At UPMC, she is responsible for assessing potential partnerships and the commercialization of UPMC Health Plan assets. Prior to joining UPMC, Elizabeth held several roles in the healthcare space focused on strategy, innovation, and clinical operations translation where she facilitated market entry and growth through creative business models and execution of partnership agreements. Before transitioning to healthcare, Elizabeth spent over a decade in consulting for public and private sector clients and as a Six Sigma Black Belt in General Electric’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program. She holds an M.B.A. from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.

Barbara AARON Rosston ’80
Barbara AARON Rosston ’80 is a consultant for independent schools and non-profit organizations. Her work focuses on strategic planning, development, and governance. She is a former environmental and land use attorney. She is a past board chair of Castilleja School and Keys School, both in Palo Alto, California. Barbara also serves on the board of Challenge Success and the San Francisco Marin Food Bank. She holds an A.B degree in History from Vassar College and a J.D. degree from the University of San Francisco.

Crystal McCormick Ware
Crystal McCormick Ware is the Director of Diversity Initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh Library System (ULS). In her position, Crystal sits on all faculty search committees at the ULS to ensure that diverse candidates are identified and represented during the ULS’s quest to diversify its workforce. She is also the co-founder of the Divine 9 Library Listserv, a national listserv that promotes networking, mentoring, and career opportunities amongst library professionals within the African American Greek System. Crystal serves on numerous committees at the University of Pittsburgh, including the university-wide K. Leroy Irvis Black History Month Committee and the ISchool Inclusion Institute (i3) Working Committee. She received her B.A. in political science and sociology from Duquesne University and her M.Ed. from Duquesne University.
