FIRST-EVER UPPER SCHOOL WELLNESS DAY
In February, the Upper School community gathered on campus to participate in the School’s first-ever Wellness Day. Organized by Head of Upper School Amanda Finigan, Associate Head of Upper School Ashley Dotson, and School Counselor Karen Boyer, the day offered students a change of pace and an opportunity to explore new wellness practices outside of the classroom.
HONORING OUR 2022 RETIREES
The Ellis School will farewell to five longtime faculty members—Visual Arts Teacher Belle Moldovan, Upper School History Teacher Rick Malmstrom, Middle and Upper School History Teacher Jeri Simon, Upper School Mathematics Teacher Liza Goldberg, and History Department Chair and Global Initiatives Coordinator Susan Corbesero—upon their retirement from Ellis at the end of the 2021–2022 school year.

ELLIS YOUNG ALUMNAE RETURN TO CAMPUS
Katharine FERENCE '19 and Leah EWERS '19 stopped by campus to visit former teachers after wrapping up their junior year of college.

ELLIS GIRLS PARTICIPATE IN HIGH SCHOOL FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 
Nine Ellis Upper School students joined the inaugural Flag Football team and attended the 2022 Girls High School Flag Football Championship at Heinz Field in May.

STUDENTS STUDY BRIDGE COLLAPSE 
Grade 6 students took a trip to Frick Park to study how Fern Hollow Creek has been affected by the bridge collapse that occurred in late January. 

NEW LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCED
  • Jamie Schiff, Head of Lower School: Jamie previously served as Division Director for the Program for Young Children at Columbus School for Girls. 
  • Claire Devereux, Director of Advancement: Claire comes from The Emery/Weiner School in Houston, Texas, where she served as Associate Director of Development. 
  • Lauren Bedell, Director of Finance and Operations: Lauren brings more than 25 years of experience managing finance and operations in not-for-profit and for-profit schools. 
  • Abby Katsos, Director of Extended Day Programming: Abby previously served as Member Development Specialist for KEYS Service Corp, AmeriCorps.
  • Katie Johnson, Athletic Director: Katie previously served as Assistant Director of Athletics at The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia. 
  • Erin Jones, Director of Marketing and Communications: Erin was previously Director of Communication & Marketing at Washington & Jefferson College.
