Welcoming the 2022–2023 School Year

It's an exciting time at Ellis as we launch the 2022–2023 school year. We’ve been working hard all summer to get ready for a great new school year, and I want to share some of the highlights of that work with you:
  • We are thrilled to be welcoming 409 students this year—a ten-year high.
  • Ten outstanding new teachers have joined our faculty, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to all three divisions.
  • Summer camp was a record success, with 179 campers attending.
  • Faculty spent time enriching our curriculum to further support our mission of educating girls and young women to become bold, authentic, intellectually vibrant changemakers, including: developing additional interdisciplinary discovery units for our Lower School girls; creating a regular wellness block in the schedule of our Middle School learners; and launching a review of our school-wide math curriculum.
  • Our Middle School science lab renovation is well on its way to completion, and proving to be every bit as compelling as we had hoped.
  • Many areas of campus underwent updates and improvements over the summer, including the installation of new flooring in some of our pre-kindergarten spaces, new furniture in our fifth and sixth grade classrooms, refinishing of the floor in Janet’s Gym (our Upper/Middle School gym), and installation of additional water bottle fillers around campus.

It was wonderful to see that work unfold, but nothing tops the joy of seeing students finally return to campus during the first week of school. One of my favorite tasks is to greet students during morning car line, and I just couldn’t stop smiling as I welcomed our amazing girls to Ellis this fall. My wish for all our students this year is that they have a year of feeling challenged, supported, known, and ever more confident and joyful because of the learning and growing they get to do at Ellis. Here’s to a wonderful new year for everyone!
