Pow(h)er Hour: Reimagining the Independent School Library

Pow(h)er Hour: A one hour talk on relevant topics and trends in girls' education followed by conversation and hors d'oeuvres.

Reimagining the Independent School Library: Online information, both from library collections and the open web, is transforming the way our students learn. Today, Ellis girls have access to unprecedented resources that go far beyond the holdings of the school library, but with this benefit comes the need for new skills for evaluating, producing, and using information responsibly. These skills will be particularly important to students as they prepare for higher education and for life as informed and educated citizens.

In this Pow(h)er Hour hosted by Ellis parent and Dean of Libraries at Carnegie Mellon University, Keith Webster, learn how an array of new services and technologies, including makerspaces, gaming studios, and spaces designed for collaboration or quiet study, are being fully integrated into the design of new-century libraries. Webster will share his expertise in visioning future academic environments, transforming library collections from print to digital media, redeveloping library spaces, and redefining the profession of library and information science. Please join us as we reimagine our library as a 21st-century learning center!

ree child care will be available during the event for Ellis parents. Register for child care here.
