Lower School

Get active: It All Begins with Play

For Lower School students, playing is learning. Play is woven into the entire day to foster fine and gross motor skills, problem solving, teamwork, and fun. In Physical Education class the focus is on the joy of movement, spatial awareness, running, dancing, imaginative play, and physical activity. Lower School students play outside daily when weather permits. A six-week developmental athletic program is available to all students in grades 3–4 through the After School Athletics program. Practice is held one day a week for six weeks. Field hockey, basketball and lacrosse are offered in the Lower School. This program is separate from the After School Adventure program.

After School Athletic Program: Grades 3 & 4
Physical Education is part of a girl’s education at all grade levels.  Girls develop strength and resilience both mentally and physically, and experience the joy of testing limits. Skills training begins in Lower School with a focus on fun and basic skills in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball, track and field, dance, and many other sports.
