Ellis Students Win First Place Awards at PJAS State Competition
Four Ellis students earned top accolades at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) State Competition, held at Penn State University on May 16, 2022. Avery Cynkar, Class of 2027, Viola Haggerty, Class of 2023, Livia Keelan, Class of 2024, and Enysah Roberts, Class of 2023, each won first place awards for their projects. Viola also achieved the high honor of a perfect score, a rare accomplishment at the state level.
Under the guidance of Upper School Chemistry Teacher and PJAS Faculty Advisor Lynne St. Hilaire, the students created ten-minute PowerPoint presentations and prepared to share their project findings before their peers and a panel of judges at the competition. 2022 marks the first time the PJAS State Competition was able to be held in person since 2019.
