Director of Summer Programs

The Ellis School seeks an outgoing and experienced professional with high energy and drive, who possesses excellent listening and communication skills, and who will put camper and family experience at the forefront of all they do. The Director of Summer Programs is responsible for the overall planning, operation, and direction of summer programming. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing, Communications, and Outreach, the successful candidate must have the ability to creatively problem-solve and plan strategically, while remaining flexible and willing to jump in and help when/where needed. This position is responsible for growing the existing program while continually seeking opportunities to improve offerings connected to Ellis’ mission. The ideal candidate will be a highly adaptable, flexible professional who embraces teamwork, but also enjoys working independently and possesses a positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated success in a school-based community. Attendance throughout the summer camp season is essential and required. 
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Marketing, Communications, and Outreach to design, deliver, and evaluate summer programs that address the interests of target populations
  • Manage operations and oversight of all summer programs, academic offerings, and partnerships, including quality of content, facilities coordination, and online registration 
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff while creating a positive team-oriented environment
  • Manage budgets, monitor all program expenses, and analyze profitability
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop and manage year-round marketing plans for summer programming
  • Serve as the primary contact for families throughout the school year and summer with questions about summer programs while maintaining outstanding customer service
  • Participate in planning and execution of occasional weekend and/or evening activities in order to promote summer program and other school offerings
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification
Qualifications - preference will be given to candidate with:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years in a leadership role with summer, after school, or related programming experience
  • Passionate about all-girls education and the mission of the school
  • Community connector who believes in the power of leveraging networks to build relationships
  • A proactive communicator who understands the importance of keeping colleagues, internal and external stakeholders, and one’s supervisor well-informed about project progress
  • High level of initiative, proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team, exceptional organizational and time-management skills, and an ability to plan ahead and work within tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and CampBrain registration software not required but preferred
