Ellis welcomes author Lisa Yee

On Tuesday, April 30 the students and faculty of The Ellis School spent the day with author Lisa Yee, who shared her love of books, lots of good humor, and insights into her writing process, including the fact that it took her six years to write her first book. She was engaging and warm, and a major inspiration to Ellis students who are known as outstanding writers and voracious readers.
Ms. Yee is an award-winning author with more than 1.5 million books in print for young people. Her day at Ellis included talks with our Lower and Middle School girls. She also ran a writing workshop about revision for the 6th grade. The workshop was especially timely: the 6th grade are currently working on writing original fairy tales.

Yee's books have been included on the NPR Best Summer Read list, and USA Today Critics' Top Pick lists. Yee's debut novel, Millicent Min, Girl Genius, won the prestigious Sid Fleischman Humor Award.  Other recent books include Stanford Wong Flunks Big-Time, So Totally Emily Ebers, Absolutely Maybe, and a series about a 4th grader, Bobby vs. Girls (Accidentally) and Bobby the Brave (Sometimes).

We were delighted to have her here at Ellis. To lear more about Lisa Yee, visit her webiste www.lisayee.com or check out her blog www.lisayee.livejournal.com.
