History teacher meets Russian educators

Global Initiatives Coordinator and History Department Chair Dr. Susan Corbesero joined a select group of Pittsburgh educators who, in December, met with a delegation of administrators and teachers from the Chelyabinsk Region of Russia. The Russian participants, hosted by the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, were here developing new educational approaches from nursery school through high school.
Dr. Corbesero is a specialist in Russian history, and she also has lived and travelled throughout Russia. She discussed her insights on innovative practices at Ellis as well as her recent research on Russian educational reforms.  Dr. Corbesero noted, “It was an exhilarating evening. Our Russian colleagues shared our passion about creating innovative and personalized educational experiences for students that empower them with the skills and global competences vital for an interconnected world.”
